What is Nero Burning ROM

Nero Burning ROM is a multifaceted CD and DVD burning and duplication program that allows users to create and burn discs with ease and stability. The range of options on the program are outstanding and considered to be the standard in burning technology. The application itself can be cumbersome on system resources and there is a bit of a learning curve involved when using some of the advanced options available. This is easily overlooked as it is the most versatile and effective product on the market in regards to media burning platforms.

Interface

Nero Burning Rom can look daunting at first, but if you stick to the burning basics, operating the platform is a quick study that renders awesome results. Two center frames within the window are presented and are where all the action happens. The frame to the left is the blank canvas where media will be placed. Nero Burning Rom support all data types including AAC, AIFF, AIF, CDA, AC3, MP3, MP4, OGG, OGM, WAV, WMA and FLAC audio. The same versatility is applied towards video with support of multiple video formats. To the right of the window there is an explorer that allows you to browse files on your computer. This can be closed to allow for optimal viewing space of the burning window. You simply drag-and-drop the files that you want burned to disc in the left frame. Individual folders remain in tact and are displayed to the far left.

Storage Meter

A nifty little thing that Nero Burning Rom has that few others do is the meter at the bottom of the window. This allows you to monitor how much space you have available on the disc. The space is calculated as you place the files in the burn browser to the left. The color changes to red if you are coming dangerously close to filling that space. Data discs often have what is called a lead-in space that stores the file structure and helps in reading the disc itself. You can choose to place data in this space using the Overburn option.

Audio CD and DVD Creation

Keep in mind that Nero Burning Rom is a ROM burning program and not a creation platform. Audio CDs are easily converted and can be edited while using the program but DVD creation is limited to direct copy options. To create playable DVDs or Blu-Ray Discs, you will need to purchase the creation suite that has a Nero DVD Creator application.

Overall

Nero Burning Rom is a top-of-the-line ROM disc burning program that is versatile and incredibly useful. The burn meter and burn speed control options put this program in a class all its own. Couple that with the rest of the suite available from Nero and you have an industry standard multimedia production platform.
